Las Vegas casino guest suspected in his wife’s murder

The suspect wanted in the recent fatal shooting of his wife was arrested Tuesday at the Mardi Gras Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Arthur Gotti Jr., 55, had $100,000 in cash on him when Las Vegas police took him into custody in connection with the murder in Pennsylvania.

Gotti is suspected of killing Nicole Zambrano, 26, over the past few days. Her body was discovered at the couple’s residence in Uniontown, Pennsylvania, on Monday.

Police tracked Gotti to Las Vegas by examining cell phone pings. Las Vegas police monitored the casino for about 12 hours before it was discovered.

Eventually, he was arrested while eating breakfast at the casino. Pennsylvania authorities are currently trying to extradite him from Nevada.

An arrest warrant in Pennsylvania charges him with criminal homicide and aggravated assault. He has not yet been formally charged on these charges.

Planning an escape

“He was on his way, we believe, out of the country with a large sum of money, and he intended to avoid or was trying to avoid any responsibility for what happened here,” Fayette County Prosecutor Mike O’Belli told a Pennsylvania television station.

Zambrano, a Venezuelan national who works as a housekeeper at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, missed work last week for three days.

Co-workers became concerned and notified the police.

The local police called Gotti and asked him where his wife was. Authorities told WTAE he provided inaccurate and conflicting information.

“First, Ms. Zambrano was in Richmond with a friend. In Florida with Mr. Gotti to see his father and dentist. “And also in Richmond, Virginia to eventually meet Mr. Gotti in the Grand Canyon,” Ubell told Pennsylvania television station WPXI.

In a recent interview, Gotti’s neighbor, Bob Lueck, told WPXI: “He made a statement maybe about a month ago that he thought she was messing with him.”

And that’s exactly the way he said it: “If I find out she’s messing around, I’ll kill her.”

He was the target of a murder plot

It was also reported that Gotti was the target of a murder-for-hire scheme organized by his first wife, Roxanne Gotti, in 2019. She attempted to hire a hitman for half of her then-husband’s life insurance policy. She pleaded guilty to lesser charges.

This case is not related to the homicide that occurred last month.
